MP3: Rio vs RIAA

for salon's take on MP3 recordings and the Rio then enjoy this story
from the NYTimes today:

which tells us that the RIAA lost its bid to keep the Rio from being
shipped and for 200$ you too can slurp MP3s for limited personal use.
But don't rejoice too loudly, Clinton signed the Digital Copyright Act
which drew this response from anti-fair-user Jack Valenti:
""For the first time, we are laying down some traffic rules of the road in
cyberspace." where we = Motion Picture Association of America.
