chapel hill/carrboro music scene project
Is anybody else interested in doing a project on the music scene around here? Metalab already has two sites, http://metalab.unc.edu/chbands and http://metalab.unc.edu/ch-scene, but they serve somewhat different functions. The chbands site focuses on some of the bands that got big, SNZ and BF5, but is horribly old and incomplete. The ch-scene site is more of a "what's happening this week on Franklin Street" sort of site. What I want to do is cover more of the history of the music clubs, e.g. doing something covering the Cat's Cradle's and the Lizard and Snake's history and their contribution to the local and national music scene as well as covering some of the smaller places. I don't want this to be something like a tourist's guide to the music scene, but that's what it looks like it will be.
I don't want to include anything outside of our immediate area, however, since there are just way too many clubs and stuff in Durham and Raleigh.
If you're interested, let me know. Or, if you're interested in doing the piece on the mascots here at UNC, let me know about that too. I'm serious about that and think it'd be a really fun project.
