Projects: Scanning and an example
I've talked to Michael Taft about the problem of scanning materials from
teh Southern Folklife Collection. His problem is that they don't want to
take materials out of the building. Our problem is we need access to a
scanner (a free one) in the building. I have found such a scanner.
Jim Barnett of ATN's Client Services (aka Help Desk) in the basement of
Wilson has a scanner connected to a Mac that we can use.
Before you get the materials from SFC, drop by the Help Desk and ask for
Jim and/or tell them that you are from Paul Jones' JOMC 191 class and want
to use the scanner. The folks there are supposed to be expecting you.
This way we don't pay, Michael's materials stay in the building, and we
get our scans.
You might want to look at a project from Rich Beckman's class last fall as
an example of what can be done for our class. See
