Rules of the Road
Spring 1998
- Matches begin at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays. There is a 15-minute slack period for latecomers before a team may call a forfeit against a shorthanded team. If your team is running late, call ahead to alert the other team.
- Listing is blind, one leg at a time. If a team lists short for a leg, the opposing team captain has the option to allow a latecomer to fill out the leg, otherwise, that game is forfeit.
- Players may not participate in more than one game per leg. Players do not have to play Singles to be eligible for Doubles, but must have played in at least one leg to be eligible to play in the tiebreaker. Players dues must be paid prior to their third match. NO exceptions!
- Teams consist of four (4) to six (6) players. No team may become short-handed after the match begins without the approval of the opposing captain. No player may be added to a roster after the mid-way point of the season. Teams may be allowed to replace players during the season under extraordinary circumstances.
- Games begin with a coin toss for diddle. Winner of the toss calls the order of the diddle. Single bull ties single bull, double bull ties double bull regardless of actual measurements. Outside the bull, if you have to measure, consider it a tie and re-diddle. Throwing order reverses for re-diddles. Winner of the diddle begins the first game; loser of the first game calls the order of the diddle for the second game; if a third game is required, the loser of the original coin toss determines diddle order (ADO rules). Singles and Doubles legs will be played on both boards available for the match.
- Captains are responsible for the smooth progression of the match. It is presumed that any disputes arising during match play can be amicably resolved using these brief Rules and a bit of common sense and sportsmanship. Any disputes that cannot be resolved to the satisfaction of both captains shall be noted above and directed to the Governing Poo-Bahs for resolution. Captains also have the sole authority to modify league rules by majority vote.
- Short-Handed Teams will forfeit Singles games when they have no eligible player to list. In Doubles, fully-listed games in both legs will be completed first; short-handed games will then be played as listed (i.e., one player/three darts to two players/six darts).
- Tournament Eligibility is reached when a player plays in one more than one-half their team’s regular season matches. For the Spring 1998 season, that “magic number” is eight (8) matches.
