This 125 pounder found it's way home with me yesterday from the Richmond VA hamfest. The unit is in remarkable condition but lacks the two meters and all knobs. There are several tags on the unit that indicate it came out of the Tobyhanna Army Depot. >From the condition of the paint and the Shop Tags it may have been in the spares ready for shipping to the field. I am guessing that the knobs are probably standard across many of the OD green GRC radios and hope someone on the list can assist in putting together a set of knobs. Finding the meters may be another story. The plate indicates that it's off a 1952 contract, made by Stromberg Carlson for Collins Radio. I will also need the dog bone connector that connects it to an R-392 and the antenna connector which is apparently just a plain BNC to BNC. Since these sets were in use for a long time I imagine they were pretty dependable. My T/R switch also runs quite hot. Good for keeping a coffee mug warm. The schematic shows a 6BL7 switch tube, as was shipped in your unit. I was surprised that Johnson designed it with no fuse = included. Don't forget to install a Low Pass filter between the T/R switch and the antenna, or you will be the bane of the TV-watching neighborhood. 73, Ed Knobloch -- "Ken Hickman" wrote: Hi Gang, I obtained a Johnson T/R Switch, Catalog No. 250-39 about a year ago.
