This will help to give a rough estimate of the actual freq (i.e. to reject idiotic results on the counter!) & see what kind of noise & distortion may be riding on the signal, which may well affect the counter's reading. All these little ss wonders have nice internal 10 MHz reference oscillators. They were all impressively close to WWV even after decades of aging! And yes, the root of my question was which 1 or 2 of the 3 freq counters I mentioned should I keep. They're so small I may just strap 'em together with a large rubber band, a 3-pack of freq counters! As always, clear & lucid "answers to life's persistant questions" (with apologies to Garison Keillor's character "Guy Noir, Private Eye"). Thanks, guys. --John Sehring WB0EQ/VE6 ------------------------------ Message-ID: <45ECE9BC.6040205@wb1cmg.mv.com> Date: Mon, 05 Mar 2007 23:10:36 -0500 From: "David M. It now has an eccentricity and sloppiness I swear wasn't present before. He would have exerted considerable downward (that is, sideways) pressure and I wonder if this is a known possible failure mode. If it is, is it something I can fix? Any comments or ideas?
