It turned out to be a lug on one of the rotary switches touching the case. The previous owner has put some tape there and the lug had cut throught the tape. My point is - if the shorts bulb is overly bright or burns out, you need to find out where the short is. If it is in a tube, trash it, and don't worry, but maybe you have a problem in the TV7 itself which you have to track down and fix. It had followed me home from a local hamfest when the widow of a silent key didn't want a local surplus shop to acquire it, apparently her husband had had some issues with that shop in the past. After just about busting my back a couple of times I did manage to power it up and it receives very well. On mine the frequency count was perfect, the megacycles were off just a bit. The biggest problem was in the counter type device under the lid in the lower deck. I managed to make it worse. Luckily, a friend of mine and the silent key also, wanted to purchase one for himself, so I sold him mine for the same money I paid for it, $100 Canadian (radio and a complete manual). Thank god its gone, cause my back has gotten worse. He did realign it, and is very happy with it. His name is Dennis. Good luck they are a terrific radio. john Subject: Battleship anchor question > Has anyone here attempted the troubleshooting and alignment procedure for a > AN/WRR2A aka FRR59A???? ------------------------------ From: "TChirhart" To: Old Tube Radios Cc: "'gregory mengell'" Subject: RE: Battleship anchor question Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2007 09:28:22 -0400 Message-ID: <000f01c7c6e4$061aeee0$6402a8c0@warnerp93v1mse> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable The expert on the anchor of all boat anchors, particularly the FRR-59 is Greg Mengel who has quite a collection of them.
