No TX output as there is not enough grid drive to the 2E22 to actuate the safety relay that turns on the screen grid. DC on the PA grid (pin 5 of the test connector) is about minus 12-15 volts. It's supposed to be -60. All tubes have been checked. Voltage and resistance on the tube pins checks OK. Grid drive to the driver tube is maybe 10% low. Tuned circuits seem to peak. Same problem on all three bands crystal or MO. (This is giving me /deja vu/. I had the same sort of trouble with a 2-meter Gonset that I gave up on. I'm a receiver guy.) Any suggestions? I have a vague recollection of discussion of a particular capacitor that's troublesome in these sets. The GRC-9 is now back among the living. Even if I had deduced that C-114 was the problem on my own, it's highly unlikely that I would have torn the set down sufficiently to replace it. Your shunt feed mod did the trick, and only took about an hour. This is just another illustration of how important the Internet in general and these email communities in particular are to those of us who look after these relics. You can google for the GU-50, you'll find vendors. I have a few spares for my Russian R-104M and R-130M transceivers, but you should be able to find them for very reasonable prices. 73, Meir WF2U Landrum, SC > Can anyone advise me of where I could find > a Germand LS-50 power pentode? The LS-50 is not a GDR tube, it's a WW2 German tube. The GU-50 is a Russian copy with similar characteristics but somewhat different physical dimensions, although they look similar. The difference is in the diameter and the pin dimensions. Some restorers use the GU-50 to substitute for the LS-50 by reworking the socket, I found an article how to do it. 73, Meir WF2U Landrum, SC > Can anyone advise me of where I could find > a Germand LS-50 power pentode? I know for sure they blackholed Sympatico.ca for that reason hence why I'm subscribed to the list on this Yahoo.com account. --- Mike Hardie wrote: > Jack, > > I haven't received any mailouts for some time, is > Old Tube Radios still active? > > Mike VE7MMH -- Regards, Jerry Proc E-mail: jerry7proc@yahoo.com Get news delivered with the All new Yahoo!
