The Atalanta covers 15 kHz-25 MHz, is a table-top receiver in a cabinet (not rack mount). It's a gorgeous radio. I saw it when I was looking at some of the other radios in the estate, but didn't turn it on. WB6JGF had an eye for quality, and had many unusual vintage radios in his collection, almost all in excellent condition. If you think you might be interested in buying the radio for your collection, I can email you a photo and put you in touch with the seller. 73, Jim W8ZR ------=_NextPart_000_0200_01CA86C1.4DDC1700 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ---REMAINDER OF MESSAGE TRUNCATED--- * * This post contains a forbidden message format * * (such as an attached file, a v-card, HTML formatting) * * Mail Lists at theporch.com only accept PLAIN TEXT * * If your postings display this message your mail program * * is not set to send PLAIN TEXT ONLY and needs adjusting * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ------=_NextPart_000_0200_01CA86C1.4DDC1700-- ------------------------------ Message-ID: <3F4C7DBA1EF248898955BB09CE20BA39@robert7549ca67> From: "Bob Kemp" To: Old Tube Radios Subject: Heathkit SB1000 Schematic Date: Sun, 27 Dec 2009 07:56:16 -0600 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_0005_01CA86CA.11747100" This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0005_01CA86CA.11747100 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Would anyone have the SB1000 Schematic? The missing piece of info is what bandspread capacitor setting corresponds to the "0" on the dial. Since the dial turns both ways from zero, it takes a moment's thought. You might think to set "0" for minimum capacitance, and you'd be right. I have done this, aligned the receiver, and checked the bandpsread against my lab grad signal generator. All three spread bands (40, 20, and 10 M) work right, within the tolerances you might expect of a 1948 analog receiver. On another subject, the one thing that's not quite right on mine is that on the 15-30 MHz band, the tuning know and shaft are sensitive to hand position, and the front end is twitchy if the AVC is on. No other band seems to be so affected. It's our hope that the lateness of the hour and the winter season will allow listeners to copy the station on frequencies they may not have heard before. We're especially hopeful that distant listeners will be able to copy us on 426kc. Operations will probably begin sometime between 2100 and 2200 Pacific time (0500 - 0600Z) and last for about two hours. Reception reports and QSLs may be sent to the QSL Mistress at: Denice Stoops PO Box 381 Bolinas, CA 94924-0381 USA VY 73, RD ================================= Richard Dillman, W6AWO Chief Operator, Coast Station KSM Maritime Radio Historical Society http://www.radiomarine.org ================================= ------------------------------ End of BOATANCHORS Digest 4305 ******************************
