Oops........ In a previous posting, I gave a recipe for an alternative to cre
sote - this is how it should have read:

Mix 750 mL exterior varnish, 30 mL paraffin wax (melted) and enough mineral
spirits
or turpentine to make 4 litres.

Dip the wood into the mixture for a few minutes or apply with a brush.  Let
dry a few days before painting.
