Dear John, My wife and I purchased a new home 2 years ago. The front yard was already landscaped (if you can call it that). The backyard is bare bones. We went to a landscape designer that came highly recommended. She came out and found out what type of things we like, returned to her studio and drew up the plans for us. Some of the things we will probably never do and other items we changed. When it comes to the plants we did not like some of the plants and asked for substitutes. Sometimes we come across a plant we like and we call her to get her imput. She charged us somewhere around $450 for the plan but is always ready to spend a few minutes on the phone making other recommendations. The yard is coming together and I plan to put in the back yard lawn in the near future. Anton... --- FLAME v1.1 * Origin: Aardwolf Express Fremont, Ca. Sometimes a plant is not good for pets as well as children for that matter. Sometimes just rubbing a plant and then licking the area can cause a pet to get ill or expire if it is one that is poisonis (sp?). Anton... --- FLAME v1.1 * Origin: Aardwolf Express Fremont, Ca. When I did I found two pen ball-point pen marks on one of the cushions. They're approx 6" long and are blue. I have no idea how long they've been there...my two year old just couldn't remember. :) Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might be able to remove these pen marks? Sounds like they are not getting enough light. If you are using artifical lights move the light closer. Also maybe give them a few more hours of light per day. I use florescents and run them from the time I get up until I go to bed at night. I'm in central Florida and on nice sunny days I put them outside for a while and protect them from wind. Clear plastic around them gives them more heat. There is no substitute for real sun if you can protect them. Well I really don't except know that they are what I want this year. At about a $1.00 a bulb(plant?) I can only get a couple dozen and would like to know what they require. Also I've seen in a couple books they are easily grown from seed- are they really? How long before they actually bloom? Either way what are their blooming times. What would be a good plant to put in front of them? If I read right they grow approx 4-5 feet. In zone 7 can they be left in the ground during winter? TTYS Aggie ... I live on 2 acres with cows and cornfields for neighbors, miles from town (and love it that way). I have pigs, chickens, rabbit, 3 dogs,3 cats oh and yes I'am married and have 2 beautiful girls. This spring will be getting steers. I love gardening veggies and flowers. I can my own veggies but discovered a food dehydrator which is wonderful. My vegetable garden is 50x100 and this year I will be making a 2nd garden for strawberries and raspberries and a grape arbor. Also I will be buying a couple more fruit trees. In the garden I plant carrots, tomatoes, peas, beans, pumpkins, green peppers, gourds etc.... I have different plots of flowers including marigolds zinnia's,sunflower,4 o'clocks, morning glories, impatients, nicotina, etc... The spring garden this year was daffodils and tulips, but I planted over 300 more of them plus some hycintias and I forgot what else:) This year I'am leaning more towards perenials(sp?) especially Canna and Lilies (can these be grown be seed successfully? Also blazing star, lupines, colimbine, and a few more. I have been in a frenzy trying to cut my seed catalog orders down from the originally $5,000 to under $50.00:) VERY hard to choose!! Now all I need to do is keep the puppy from digging (he dug up 60 iris roots:( and found the cat was eating my pumpkin seeds, she especially liked my Luminere (white) pumpkins so I have to order more of them.
