Anyone who is growing hemp here (Canada) isn't growing it for fibre :-) Is the rest of this post any more truthful/accurate/well-researched than this 'fact'? There *may* be some research plots somewhere, but I'm sure there are no commercial growers here. This is not to say that the idea isn't fascinating. It does grow really well in Western Canada. Before it was outlawed, I understand people would grow temporary hedges of it. What is the truth? -- W. Please follow up with data on whether the same crop was grown on the acres referred to, whether there was an increase in yield, and if so, how much, whether there were any differences in insects (like a new species or mutations), whether new pesiticides were developed that were effective as opposed to old types that didn't affect the target pest, the price of hand-weeding in the "old days" versus hand weeding now, etc. etc. I know hand weeding is probably better from some esthetic viewpoint, and keep looking down the road for a gang of people who crave the fulfillment gained only by hand-weeding to come and purify my acres with their payment being only the deep satisfaction of cracking carapaces between the nails of their thumb and forefinger.
