why we took such a strong interest in passing NAFTA and GATT," said Vice. "If we are going to survive and thrive as a major exporting state, we have to aggressively pursue new markets." Vice said an important market that California farmers should not ignore is China. He said between 80-100 million Chinese have incomes sufficient to purchase imported food products, an export market larger than Mexico. His address concluded with remarks on the development of the Agricultural Network, a public outreach and education program. Vice said farm groups first need to assess ongoing efforts that commodity groups currently conduct to determine how the new program can best communicate with non-farmers. -0- 12/5/94 /CONTACT: Clark Biggs or Bob Krauter of the California Farm Bureau Federation, 714-490-2908 (news room), or 916-924-4060 (office)/ * QMPro 1.53 * ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.10 * Origin: Environment Arkansas! Haveing lived in Fl. since before the average house could afford A.C. I can remember the ways we use to keep ants out of things. Our kitchen tabel and dinning table sat in small bowls or cans at each leg. These were kept about half full with water. Some people used real nice decorative bowls but we all knew what they were for. We use to also dust the bottoms of cabinates, inside the area behind and under drawers with borax . Almost all houses down here back then were wood and were on piers or pileings with a crawl space underneith. This crawl space was dusted and the piers were circled and dusted on top of with either chloridane or borax. I don't know if you have seen any of my posts concerning indoor farming, but I am really trying to get this project going. I think it would be very useful to compare the information you have requested and use that as a basis for a guesstimate of what sort of production we could expect from indo agriculture. I think it is safe to say that for most vegetables, we could expe a yield of 25 times that of outdoor farming. I am trying to find information cost per acre as well, because I think that once the equipement is in place, i will be much less expensive to run indoor farming. ...
