I'm an archivist with the NAtional Archives responsible for deciding
which USDA databases are preserved as permanent records. I subscribe
to several lists to get a feel for what is going on and so I can
contact experts when I come across data that is incomprehensible
to a generalist. I need as much information as I can get on USDA,
ag research, etc. so that when I make a decision to dispose of or
keep records it is the most informed one possible. I also work
with NASA and the space list puts you ag guys to shame. Start
communicating! For my part, I wrote an M.A. on the Federal Farm
Loan Act of 1916 and would be happy to discuss ag history or farm
economics with anyone.

I can also try to find out where data is in the Federal govt. for
your research needs.
