Subject: Pacific Northwest Carniverous Plant Society Date: Fri, 15 May 1992 00:32:16 GMT Pacific Northwest Carniverous Plant Society For the past several years, local carniverous plant hobbyists have been talking of starting a local Carniverous Plant Society. Finally there are some people with time to organize it. Between Seattle, Vancouver, B.C., and Portland (and lots of places in the vicinity!) there are some very active growers of CP, both newly attracted to the hobby, as well as folks with huge collections of rare and "difficult-to-grow" species. So it is high time that we all had a chance to get together and compare notes, trade plants, not to mention drink a few beers together! Some suggestions for Society activities include: Quarterly meetings with presentations, sharing of information, trades, plant sales; Field trips to local and not-so-local sites where carniverous plants may be seen in habitat; dissemination of information through a (quarterly?) newsletter, cooperation with the International Carniverous Plant Society, and participation in the Seattle Flower Show this August. Our hope is that the Society will serve people with all levels of horticultural/ botanical knowledge.
