EGCG 8.0 status: The beta release of EGCG 8.0 was announced on 3rd July 1995. We (the EGCG team) are working on the full port of EGCG to support GCG 8.0 on both VMS and Unix. This has involved rather more rewriting of code than we expected, but will result in a far cleaner and easier to program package. The present FTP directory contains the "beta" release. As we are still working through some general changes and are some way from completely testing the programs, there are still a few "bugs", which we promise to correct as rapidly as possible. Support for the EGCG programs is available by E-mail to egcg@embnet.org (the EGCG support team). ======================================================================= This directory contains the EGCG programs, distributed by Peter Rice at The Sanger Centre, Hinxton Hall, Cambridge, UK and originally developed at EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany. The programs are maintained by members of the EGCG support team, most of whom work at and are members of the EMBnet in Europe. Additional EGCG programs for release 8.0 were contributed by a number of external authors who may impose their own terms and conditions on use. Some EGCG source code was originally written by GCG Inc., and is subject to their licence terms and conditions. The remainder of the code was written by the EGCG team, and is freely distributed for academic use. ****************************************************************** * No part of this code may be included in any commercial package * * or offered for sale. The code may be distributed to other * * licensed GCG sites freely provided this notice is included * * and no other restrictions are imposed. * ****************************************************************** The programs may only be used together with the GCG package. To make the EGCG programs available, you must start GCG and source the egenetics script on Unix or execute the EGENETICS.COM command procedure on VMS. GCG is a registered trade mark of Genetics Computer Group Inc.
