CMP -- FILE COMPARE UTILITY CMP is used to compare two ASCII files so that differences may be easily seen. Depending on the switches used it can, 1) Generate a listing showing the differences between two files. 2) Generate a listing with the changes marked with change bars. 3) Generate output suitable for input to the SLP utility. The CMP command line is CMP (or COMpare) outfile = infile1, infile2 where: outfile the file or device where output is to be sent switch any combination of the CMP switches infile1 the file to be compared to infile2 infile2 the file to be compared to infile1 For additional information on CMP switches and defaults, type: HELP CMP SWITCHES 2 SWITCHES CMP Command Line Switches /BL [/-BL] Include [do not include] blank lines in compare processing. /CB List infile2 with change bars in the form of '!' applied to each line that does not have a corresponding line in infile1. /CO [/-CO] Include [do not include] text preceeded by a ';' in processing. /DI Print the differences between the two files. /FF [/-FF] Include [do not include] records with a single form feed. /LI:n Specify the number of lines which must be identical before CMP recognizes a match (default = 3). /LN [/-LN] Precede [do not precede] lines in output file with their line number. /MB [/-MB] Include [do not include] blank and tab characters in processing. /SL[:au] Generate a SLP output file. 'au' is a 1-8 character ASCII audit identifier. /TB [/-TB] Include [do not include] trailing blanks on a line. /VB:nnn Specify a different character (octal value =nnn) as change bar.
