FLX -- FILE TRANSFER PROGRAM FLX provides a means of transfering files between various PDP-11 operating systems. The primary media format is DOS. To run FLX, FLX outfile/switches=inpfile/switches or FLX The command line is outfile/switch=infile/switch. By default it is assumed that input files are DOS format and output files are RSX format. To change the format use a format switch to specify the file type. /DO DOS format /RS RSX format /RT RT11 format Further HELP keywords are TRANSFER-MODE SWITCHES 2 TRANSFER-MODE FLX can transfer data in Formatted ASCII, Formatted Binary, and Image Mode. Playing with these switches can cause many problems. Read the manual (pages 5-4 to 5-5 of the Utilities manual), or assume that the default set- ings are used. To use these switches one must know how a file from another system was put on by FLX. /FA:n Formatted ASCII. /FB:n Formatted Binary. /IM:n Image mode. where n is the record length and can be used to create files of fixed record length. 2 SWITCHES /BL:n Indicates the number of contiguous blocks to allocate on an output file (must be used with the /CO switch). /BS:n Specifies block size on cassette tape output. /CO The output file is to be contiguous. /DE Delete files on DOS-11/RT-11 DECtape or disk. /DI Provide a directory listing of DOS-11 or RT-11 directories. /DNS:n Specifies tape density (800 or 1600). /DO Identifies the volume as DOS-11. /FA:n Formatted ASCII transfer mode (n=record size). /FB:n Formatted Binary transfer mode (n=record size). /FC Set Fortran carriage control conventions. /ID Displays FLX's version number. /IM:n Image transfer mode (n=record size). /LI Same as /DI /NU:n Used with /ZE and /RT switches to specify number of directory blocks to allocate on an RT format disk. /RS Identifies the volume as FILES-11. /RT Identifies the volume as RT-11. /RW Rewind magtape before performing any operation. /SP Spool the output file. /UI The output file is to have the same UIC as the input file. /VE Verify records written to cassettes. /ZE Initialize RT, or DOS vlumes. To handle large magtape blocks, FLX can be run with a larger task increment than the default. For example, RUN $FLX/INC=20000 .
