One notable problem that occurs when using CCL as MCR's catchall task is that if CCL is directed to exit immediately after a spawn (e.g. encounters %$ in command template, or spawns ...CA2) the path back to MCR's prompt is lost. There is a patch to the spawn directive published by Dan Steinberg/Larry Bolef in the Feb.'81 MULTI-TASKER that will allow the parent's OCB to be passed directly to the offspring. This is apparently the type of thing SPAWN should do if the requesting task is a command line interpretter (CLI). Since 11M V3.2 does not support multiple CLI's, this patch may be just the trick to get CCL to look more like 11M+ DCL. The file DRSPW.SLP is a SLP indirect command file to patch DRSPW.MAC. There is one patch performed on DRSPW.MAC by Autopatch release C, therefore a virgin (.VGN) copy of DRSPW.MAC must be copied into this UIC (DRSPW.SLP includes the Autopatch corrections as well). To incorporate this patch, SLP the virgin copy of DRSPW by issueing the command: SLP @DRSPW.SLP. The patched DRSPW.MAC should then replace its counterpart [11,10]DRSPW.MAC prior to assembling the executive during SYSGEN phase I. If one opts to support Steinberg's special spawn directive (cued by event flag = -1), define the symbol '$DSSPW' in the conditional assembly file PRECCLASM.MAC (e.g. $DSSPW=0), and (re)assembly SPAWN.MAC using PRECCLASM/PA:1. All action lines that direct CCL to exit after the spawn will then make use of the special spawn directive. P. Sorenson Dept. of Physiology Michigan State University E.
