The new features can speed operations by making commands easy to remember and type. Only the first 3 to 4 char need be typed for any command. The old commands still work as usual. The parameters enclosed in [ ] may be omitted. If you omit the required parameters the program will ask you for them. For example if you type COPY with no parameters you will be asked for the filename to copy and the final name. ~ ~ ASSIGN Prompts you for device assignments DIRECTORY Get a directory listing LIST filename Get a listing of a file TYPE filename same as LIST PRINT filename Print the file on the line printer SPOOL filename same as PRINT DELETE filename Deletes the specified file (* means all) PURGE filename Purges old versions (Makes more room on disk) TRUNCATE filename Truncates files (shortens them) COPY infile outfile Copies a file RENAME oldfile newfile Renames a file SORT Produces an alphabetized directory ~ ~ The FORTRAN commands have been simplified considerably. FOR [/Sw1/Sw2....] Filename Sw are the switches. For example if you want no TRACEBACK you use /NOTR. If you want a listing use /LI ...etc. A listing on disk, but not on the printer uses /NOSP. Filename is the file to compile Instead of TKB you may use LINK to build or link your tasks. LINK [/Sw1/Sw2...] File1 [,File2,.....,File9] If you omit all parameters then FOR or LINK will prompt you by asking for them. # @NEW.HLP
