CMP, the file compare program, is used to determine differences between ASCII coded files. The general form of the command line is: outfile/switch(es)=infile1/switch(es),infile2/switch(es) The DCL DIFFERENCE command also invokes CMP. See HELP/DCL DIFFERENCE. Legal switches are: /BL Include blank lines in comparison /CB List infile2 with change bars indicating differences /CO Comments (;) are to be included in comparison /DI Print differences between files /FF Include records of a single form-feed character in comparison /LI:n Count of lines to be identical in comparison before a match /LN Assign line numbers when displaying differences /MB Include blanks and tabs in comparison /SL:au Create a SLP-compatible output file of differences with "au" as the audit trail /TB Include trailing blanks in comparison /VB:nnn Specify octal character code for change bar If no outfile is specified, it defaults to TI:. The defaults for the second input file are taken from the specification for the first input file.
