CREATE filespec The CREATE command without a qualifier creates a sequential file on a file-structured device. After you issue the command, simply type the text you wish the file to contain on your terminal. You can delete a line with CTRL/U. You can close the file by typing a CTRL/Z. You can create a file in any directory to which you have WRITE access. Usually, this will be your own directory and other directories with the same group number. For more information about creating directories, see HELP CREATE DIRECTORY. 2 DIRECTORY CREATE/DIRECTORY[/qualifier] [ddnn:][g,m] /ALLOCATION:n /PROTECTION:code /VOLUME_LABEL:volumelabel The CREATE/DIRECTORY command adds a user file directory (UFD) to the Master File Directory (MFD). Nonprivileged users can create a directory on a volume mounted on a private device. Privileged users can create a directory on any mounted volume. The device specification, ddnn:, will default to the user's device SY0:. The UFD will default to the user's UIC. Note that only one of these parameters may be defaulted; one of the two must be specified. The format for UFD is [g,m] where g is the group code and m is the member code. Additional information is available by typing: HELP CREATE DIRECTORY qualifier 3 ALLOCATION CREATE/DIRECTORY/ALLOCATION:n [ddnn:][g,m] The /ALLOCATION qualifier specifies the number of directory entries for which space is to be entered. The number provided is rounded up to the next multiple of 32. The default is /ALLOCATION:32. 3 PROTECTION CREATE/DIRECTORY/PROTECTION:(code) [ddnn:][g,m] The /PROTECTION qualifier establishes access rights for the directory file. Each access code consists of a positional keyword specifying the protection group (SYSTEM:, OWNER:, GROUP:, WORLD:) followed by a 4-code group specifying the protection, as follows: R - Read, allow directory lookups W - Write, allow entries to be removed from the directory E - Extend, allow entries to be entered in the directory D - Delete, allow the directory to be deleted The default is /PROTECTION:(SYS:RWED,OWN:RWED,GROUP:RWED,WORLD:R). 3 VOLUME_LABEL #LABEL 3 LABEL CREATE/DIRECTORY/LABEL:volumelabel [ddnn:][g,m] The /LABEL qualifier specifies that the given volumelabel be compared with the label on the volume. If the names match, a UFD can be allocated. If they do not match, the command is rejected. The default is no label checking.
