Strip is a "C" program that can be used to convert non-standard ASCII characters, often added by word processing packages, into standard ASCII characters. That is, if a character has the hi order bit on, it is turned off. You will need to compile the STRIP program on your microcomputer and generate the file STRIP.EXE. Next, run the STRIP program as follows: STRIP where "input filename" is the file with the offending characters and "output filename" is the file STRIP should create with only standard ASCII characters. For IBM-PC owners who use PC-DOS, a copy of the EXE file in printable format is available as STRIP.FIX. Transfer the file to your IBM-PC along with PCKEXE.BAS. Next, modify lines 30 and 40 of the BASIC program to use the files STRIP.EXE and STRIP.FIX instead of KERMIT.EXE and KERMIT.FIX respectively. Then run the BASIC program. This should create the file STRIP.EXE.
