Thanks to all that responded so that I could try to get my code working right
for receiving information through my serial connection. I've recently found
that I might be dealing more with a hardware problem than a software problem
though. After simple tests of just trying to write something if the card
picked up anything failed, I took a closer look at the card and saw that the
people who were playing around with the M8650 before me have scrapped off some
of the traces in certain parts and had clumsily added a few components
themselves.

Now, in order to try to get things to finally work, I'm left wondering what the
people before me took off of the card and how I can fix it. If you happen to
have the schematics for the M8650, or an extra card you could part with that
can be used for making a serial connection, please let me know.

Subject: PDP-8 systems available

Chuck Taylor <ctaylor@college.antioch.edu> of Antioch College in Ohio
says that he has a pair of PDP-8/E systems to dispose of.

One is a lab8/e system (green paint job on the front panel), the other
is a PDP-8/e. He listed the following options as being present on
both machines (his list wasn't complete):

M8350 KA8E External positive I/O bus interface
M884 KG8E Parity Generator Detector for DP8E
M8655 KL8JA Terminal Control (UART based substitute for M8650)
M848 KP8E Power fail and auto-restart

He also says there is a paper tape reader/punch and 25 or more rolls of
psper tape, plus many "flip'n'file" plastic paper-tape holders.

The system was supposed to be functional when he got it, but it hasn't
been tested recently.

This is an excellent chance for folks in the east-central states to get
their hands on a machine. If you want to arrange to pick up one of
these machines, please reply directly to Chuck Taylor, not to me.
