For all intents and purposes this list is specific to Uilleann Pipes - although there are addresses for more general purpose mail order houses. I have not contacted most of the following. Much of the info is "plagiarized" straight from responses that I have had from contributors. I am keeping this list for our benefit. Unfortunately almost everything I know about Uilleann pipes is contained below. This means that while I am very willing to share this information with you, I can not give purchasing or playing advice. I hope you find it helpful. Dean...K... [*] Bautista, Fel Diamond Bar, CA USA E-mail: fbautista1@msmail2.hac.com I have a practice set of unknown origins, but the chanter is made by Matt Kiernan with a reed with an "anchor", as best as I can make out marked on one of the tongues. I went to Ireland in 78, met Matt (who was ancient then) and told me that the reeds I made weren't too badly made. I've made about 50 reeds, with 1 and 1/2 of them ok to use in this DRY climate. After a while, 3 kids, job and no time, I've put the set away and tried to keep up with my fiddle playing. If I continue with this instrument, I need to find someone who can make reeds for this climate.
