To: Multiple recipients of list WELSH-L ---------------Original Message--------------- To:Multiple Recipients of Welsh-L From: Tana George, asrai@conncoll.edu We need to ask your help. We are seeking names and addresses of Welsh or Welsh-speaking places to stay (B&B's for example) where Welsh-Americans would be welcomed. We would also like to hear about places, such as shops or pubs, for example, where it would be possible to meet Welsh-speaking people. Does anyone have some useful suggestions for us? Does anyone know of a map of Wales showing the districts where many people speak Welsh? I will be very glad to hear from you. Thanks lots. Tana George ----------End of Original Message---------- There's an excellent book: "The Welsh Language" (University of Wales Press 1993, ISBN 0-7083-1211-X #UK 7.95 has useful maps showing welsh speakers by percentage and numbers taken from census data. Latest as at 1981. Also maps of dialect variation and immigration patterns. Also Aitchison & Carter "The Welsh Language 1961-1981 an interpretative atlas" (again UoW Press, ISBN not known). For the others I suggest you contact: Urdd Gobaith Cymru; Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg. Sorry for the english, I'm just starting to learn Welsh. Jeff
