>>...It would >>be nice to look up "es" and be told to go to "mynd" instead of finding >>nothing... >>diana > >Actually, the 1992 Teach Yourself Welsh Dictionary does just that. I looked >up "es" and found: > >"es i (bf.) I went; gw. mynd" My search engine can now cope with irregular verbs. I just tried a search on 'es' and got the following output: mynd (myned) [irreg.] (v.) go Note: `es' is the verb `mynd' in the 1.s. past ind. It always tells you exactly what form(s) the verb is in. For example, a search on 'elwch' gives the following output: galw [galw-; 3.s. geilw, 2.s.imp. galw!] (v.) call Note: `-wch' is the ending for 2.p. pres. ind. or 2.p. imp. Here are the irregular verbs it can (should be able to) handle: adnabod (nabod) [irreg.] - (v.) know (a person), recognize bod [irreg.] - (v.) be cael [irreg.] - (v.) have, receive, get canfod [can-&fod] - (v.) see, perceive, behold cydnabod [cydna-&bod] - (v.) acknowledge cyfarfod [cyfar-&fod] - (v.) meet darfod [dar-&fod] - (v.) perish, end, finish; happen darganfod [dargan-&fod] - (v.) discover dod (dyfod, dw+ad) [irreg.] - (v.) come gorfod [gor-&fod] - (v.) be obliged gwneud (gwneuthur) [gwn-&mynd; 2.s.imp. gwna!] - (v.) do, make gwybod [irreg.] - (v.) know mynd_ (myned) [irreg.] - (v.) go It can handle all regular verbs (without contracted forms yet) for which I have put the stems into the Lexicon. The improved search engine should be available at my Web site within a couple of days. --Mark
