> Thank you for your commentary. I understand your point about the >various celtic BB's, but it doesn't seem to me that the volume on Welsh-L >is high enough to warrant such division. With respect, Lisa, we aren't looking for volume, we are looking for Welsh. There are thousands of lists out there in English. GAELIC-L and WELSH-L are here to serve the languages. It is not here as the default catch-all for anything about Wales. > I agree that you do not have to speak Welsh to be Welsh, but I >disagree strongly about language & politics not being intertwined. I insist that you people ALL take this discussion to IRL-POL. Blame the nasty old moderator of WELSH-L if you like. Go on, people, subscribe and take the discussion there. Before you get mad at me, and send me flames, think about it this way: WELSH-L sprouted off GAELIC-L because there were enough people interested in Welsh to make us want a list, and Briony and I volunteered to moderate it. Take this political discussion in English to IRL-POL, maybe you'll be happy there, maybe you'll sprout a new list. It's up to you. > And I'll restate my original point- learners who wish to >post here should make a sincere effort to compose their thoughts in Welsh, >however imperfectly, and the fluent speakers should be willing to serve as >mentors and teachers, instead of telling us to go away unless we're fluent. Hey now, I didn't say go away unless you're fluent. I said that we're to speak Welsh. Gods know I'm not fluent: anyone can tell you my Welsh is heavily interfered with by Breton and Irish (will I ever remember the relative "sydd"?) Ask some questions about verbs if you all want to talk English. Make an effort. Or find, or make, a forum for what you want if this isn't what you want. And please, no flames, and please, Lisa, this is not meant as an attack on you or your position. Rydw i'n gweithio i gadw'r rhestr hon rhestr Gymraeg.
