Shwmae out there.... I am a recent member of the list and have a question to ask of the mysterious computer users of WELSH-L out there.... I am a Welsh-American student at Syracuse University... I have been interested in learning Welsh for a few years and find no tutor available in my area and of course no classes. I thought that maybe there are some of us out here (or if not, maybe a larger base of Welshies would join and begin to contribute more etc.).... some of us out here who are at a VERY BEGINNERS level.... i.e. we may know a dozen or so vocab words and a couple of not-so-grammatically correct verb conjugations etc. Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a resource over email where we Welsh-Americans who want to foster Welsh self-determination through the language could further our goal... or even people who are simply interested in learning Welsh for whatever reason? I think that this would become very popular. If a speaker out there could distribute a lesson a day or a week or however often they would like.... we could commit ourselves to learning basic grammar and vocabulary on a regular and structured basis than attempting to self teach ( which never works for me)... maybe little quizes now and then etc for our self-check.... I don't think that this would take a lot of time for 10 vocab words and a grammar/conj. or two per lesson, at least not for someone who knows Welsh. I feel as thought I could be getting so much from the correspondence within Welsh-L, if I only could somehow learn that language (its fundamentals) here in the US. Please give this some thought... I think Welsh-L could become a very useful resource for we beginners as well. Please respond if anyone has any ideas... Thanks, Robb Young
