I've been trying to teach myself Welsh for quite some time now, with fairly good success, considering I've had little to go on. I think most of it is because the _Teach Yourself Living Welsh_ book I have appears to be written extremely well, or at least well-suited to my style of learning, to one extent or another. I also have one or two readers of this list to thank, for the Welsh material and tape that I've gotten from them. Anyway... Mae'n rhaid i fi gyhoeddi fy mod i'n teithio i Loegr ym mis Ebrill, a rydw i am fynd i mewn i Gymru (i'r Gogledd) pan 'mod i yno. Fe fydda i a fy ngwraig ym Manceinion tra wythnos, a fe awn ni i Gymru am ddiwnod neu ddau i weld y wlad a gobeithio i siarad tipyn o Gymraeg a gweld unrhyw gastell. Dydw i ddim yn Gymro, does dim gwaed Cymreig yno i, dydw i ddim ond dysgwr ieithoedd sy'n hoffi ieithoedd anghyffredin. Ond rydw i eisiau gwybod: os cerdda i i mewn i unrhyw siop yng Ngogledd Cymru, a dweuda "Bore da! Rydw i eisau prynu llyfrau Cymreig," ddeallan nhw fi? Oes llawer o siaradwyr Cymraeg yng Ngymru, neu ydyn nhw i gyd ar y rhestr 'na? :-) Wrth gwrs, rydw i'n dysgu Cymraeg y Dde, a fe fydda i'n y Gogledd... Dyna fy lwc i. Rydw i am ddysgu Cymraeg ar y cwrs rydyn ni'n siarad amdano. Pob lwc i'r athro! [Please forgive rotten Welsh ] [ Going to England/Wales a little this spring, hoping to try out my Welsh. I'm interested in the course too! ] ~mark o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o o N2KOT Mark E. Shoulson: shoulson@ctr.columbia.edu
