Perhaps some of you who expressed interest in a possible _Guide to Middle Welsh_ may not know of some editions of MW texts in modern spelling with facing English translations, which are reasonably priced and accessible. I've got the following three: _Dafydd ap Gwilym. A selection of poems. New edition_, translated by Rachel Bromwich, Harmondsworth: Penguin Books, 1985, xxxii + 207 pp. ISBN 0-14-007613-1 (5.95 pounds in 1987) [has short intro. and quite detailed notes] _Canu Maswedd yr Oesoedd Canol/Medieval Welsh Erotic Poetry_, golygwyd a chyfieithwyd gan/edited and translated by Dafydd Johnston, Cardiff: TAFOL, 1991, 135 pp. ISBN 0-9517181-1-8 (8.95 pounds in 1992) [short bilingual intro. and no notes] _Aneirin: Y Gododdin. Britain's Oldest Heroic Poem_, ed./tr. A.O.H. Jarman, (Welsh Classics vol. 3), Llandysul: Gomer Press, 1990, civ + 205 pp. ISBN 0-86383-354-3 (14.95 pounds in 1994) [substantial intro., notes, and well-designed and useful glossary] [NB Welsh Classics vol. 1 was the original hardback edition of Dafydd ap Gwilym, 1982, of which the above is a pb revision; vol 2. is _Hywel Dda: The Law_, tr./ed. Dafydd Jenkins - I haven't seen this one.] Perhaps people know of other texts which are available in a similar form. Hwyl fawr i bawb Max Wheeler
