I have decided to go ahead with producing an introductory Welsh course. The lessons will start over again with Lesson 1, so the archive of the lessons should be flushed [did you get that, Briony?]. I hope to produce a new lesson every 2 weeks, but I don't make any promises. I would like to acknowledge Roger Vanderveen from the start, since it was his enthusiasm to begin the course in the first place that gave me the impetus to get involved. Also, most of the material in the early lessons is his: he wrote all of Lesson 1 on pronunciation, and also all of Appendix 1 on mutations. The big news is that this course will also be available on World Wide Web. Details are contained in the first lesson. If you have access to the Web (through NCSA Mosaic or xmosaic or some other program), I strongly encourage you to access the course in that manner. One other small change: the ASCII version of the lessons are not in a format called 'setext' for 'structure-enhanced text'. It is possible to go automatically from setext to the HTML format needed for the Web, which is why I decided to use the setext. The first lesson should be forthcoming by the end of the week.
