For more sexual love, possibly more akin to lust (the kind of love you experi- ence when courting, perhaps, we use 'serch' which is more physical and maybe slightly less affectionate than 'cariad' Also, as Ieuan pointed out, when used by a native Valleys person, cariad denote s nothing more than a vague term of reference, rather as one would find in almo st any other working class comunity.
