Welcome aboard!! My family and I are from Scranton also. We've been living in New York for a number of years now, but Scranton is "home". My Great-great Grandfather was killed in a mine accident in Scranton and subsequent ly my Great-Grandfather had to go to work as a slate picker in the mines. In recent years, some of the mines have been opened as a tourist attraction. We visited there nd really got in touch with the lives of our mining ancestors. My grandparents recounted memories and stories their fathers had told them. I w ould definitely recommend visiting the Anthracite Coal Mines in Scranton. (aand while you're there, stop in Old Forge for some pizza). Sarah
