(the only problem with this is that it will likely be full of rowdy 1st years, and not a conducive atmosphere for a researcher.) b. during "Freshers' Week" (Wythnos Y Glas), before term starts, get into the main hall and ask for Welsh lessons at Y Gymdeithas Gymraeg (the welsh society)'s stand. They are free - organised jointly by "Y GymGym" and the Univ.. I learned Welsh as an undergraduate in Cardiff, so feel free to ask me for more pointers.
