Published by the Yiddish Language Resource Center of the League for Yiddish, Inc., this beautifully illustrated book focuses exclusively on the terminology necessary for raising children in a Yiddish-speaking home, including words, expressions, children's language and traditional blessings and rhymes for babies and young children. Utilizing "Pregnancy, Childbirth and Early Childhood", parents will now find it easier to have a Yiddish-speaking home without running into the problem of not being able to find such words in the Yiddish dictionaries published to date. How can you obtain this unique 200-page terminological dictionary? Simple! Just send your check from an American bank or a money order for $22.00 (hardcover edition) or $15.00 (softcover edition), as well as postage and shipping charges of $2.50 (within the United States) or $3.00 (all other countries), to the following address: Yiddish Language Resource Center League for Yiddish, Inc. 200 West 72 Street, Suite 40 New York, NY 10023-2805 Please allow 8-10 weeks for delivery. Their phone number is (212) 787-6675. According to the Yiddish portion of the flyer, the title in Yiddish is "Trogn, Hobn un Fri'ike Kinder- Yorn: An English-Yidish Verterbikhl". The flyer doesn't say who the author is, but it's Dr. Mordkhe Shaechter, retired professor of Yiddish of Columbia University and one of the driving forces behind Yugntruf and the Yidish-Lige (see Digest-Message 12/1). We're looking forward to this dictionary! ------------------------ Digest-Message: 34/3 From: Raphael Finkel Date: Fri, 1 Feb 1991 11:27:02 -0500 Subject: Kinder lider Du betst men zol dir shikn vos arayntsuleygn in nekstn numer. I did go ahead and order the cassette/book from Chadish Media, along with some other stuff. Their 800 number (1-800-NET-TAPE) was answered by a gentleman named Rabbi Rosenberg, who was very helpful. I'll write a mini-review of it when I get it, in case you think anyone on mail.yiddish might be interested.
