Dear Mr. Potter,
      I've just read the articles you posted and its thread. I'm not a
physicist, so I can't make head or tail of all your equations. I'm not
quite sure, but I think you're implying that the nature of time is
circular, am I right?
      I've been thinking about the nature of time myself. I have a notion
that time is linear vector pointing in one direction (forward). This is
because what already happened is fixed. Eventhough future has many
possibilities, once the event occur, it is fixed. In our view, time is a
function of changes of event ie. time = now - moment just before now. 
      If your notion is correct and nature of time is circular, then what
will happen is already fixed and what already happened will happen again.
Is this sound plausible for you?
      I will appreciate your comment. Please enlight me.

The text of the MIT CF patent is likely to be seen again here for those 
of you who did not have a chance to download it.

I would like to comment that The MIT research was funded under a defense 
department contract. In my opinion, anyone who claims that there is no 
military significance to this is most naive. Also, for the socially 
responsible, please note that yesterday, China exploded its fourth 
thermonuclear device in 14 months and that France is due to begin a 
series of eight thermonuclear tests in the South Pacific in a few days 
or weeks.

I have read the text of the MIT CF and I note that the authors argue on 
the basis of many body theory, that particle physics is "of no 
predictive value" in understanding the phenomenon. However they do go 
into a great deal of M.O. theory and discuss nuclear wave function 
overlap. They neverless say little about the implications of 
wavefunctions symmetric with respect to interchange of particle 
coordinates.

I would like to pose a question. In my opinion the only reasonable way 
to go about mechanistic studies is through the use of nuclear magnetic 
resonance spectroscopy. Can anyone suggest how this can be done? Can 
anyone expand on the relevant nmr theory?

There are two kinds of time.
One is associated with the oscillation of a system such as a pendulum,
and one is associated with the decay of the energy within the system.

For example, if you give a swing a push, it swings with a constant
period, but the amplitude of the swing decreases a small amount each
cycle. This is because the system is interacting with other systems in
the universe. We have to use two sets of math to describe the system.
One, to describe what we call the system, and another to account for
changes in the systems caused by outside influences.

The oscillation is a "circular time" in that the properties associated
with each cycle of the swing are identical to the properties in all
other cycles. ( Assuming no decay. )

The decay is an exponential decrease in the energy of a system.
We associate this time with aging and long term changes to the system.

A system ages because it interacts with other systems in the universe
and exchanges energy with them. As higher energy systems tend to give
up energy to lower energy systems, both are changed in some way.
High energy systems give up energy faster because as they are more
active, they are more apt to interact with other systems.

Basically, Classical Physics and conventional equations can be used to
model a simple, isolated, two body systems, but more complex systems
involving more than two bodies must be described statistically, as
methods have not ben developed to compute "many body" systems. The
statistics used to describe how systems interact is called Quantum
Mechanics.

In other words, "circular time" is an oscillation, and the time which
seems to move forward, is actually an exponential time which is
associated with the giving up of energy by high energy systems to lower
energy systems.

You are right, in that I have been writing about "circular time" rather
than "exponential time".

If I have not been clear, please let me know.

Hmmm... I just taught freshman physics this year, and we explained
this in terms of the strong force having to overcome the 
electromagnetic force to make nuclei.  Because the strong force is
very short range, as the nuclei get larger it takes more neutrons
to overcome the EM force of the positively charged protons.  
Too many neutrons, and some of them beta-decay to protons, too few
neutrons, and the nucleus either undergoes fission or an alpha 
decay.  By the way, why did you stop your counting at iron? the
ration of neutrons/protons continues to increase out to the end
of the periodic table.

I must say, I'm becoming a real Archimedes Plutonium fan.  In
the few posts I've read, he has managed to display his total
ignorance of a pretty impressive range of topics, from physics
to paleontology - while all the while remaining thoroughly
obnoxious.  I've come to the conclusion that it must be a joke.
No one could be that big an idiot and still be able to type,
and if anyone were that obnoxious,  I'd at least expect them
to have the courage to use their real name.

Are you going to take this all the way to the point where a precocious
child brings a working model of a Patterson Power Cell  (which his
father has bought at the local corner store for $750) to school, plonks
it down in front of his physics teacher, and demands to know how it
works? The physics teacher phones up the American Physical Society
and demands to know why he has not not been sent source material
on these devices? The harassed Education Officer of the APS looks
this up in her list of available materials, and finds only a reference to
a certain Richard A.Blue with the comment that this is like looking
for a needle in a haystack! The physics teacher phones up the 
aforementioned Richard A.Blue and demands to know what he is 
playing at!

Aren't there Fe absorption lines in the sun's spectra?  
So why couldn't the asteroids have been a planet which then 
lost most of its lighter elements and later unfortunately blew 
itself apart.  The center of the object may have been more 
scattered by the detonation, so fragments from that zone have 
impacted the earth more often than the outer mantle or shell
layers.  It is the central core region which contains most of 
the nickel Pd Pt Ir family of metals.  So we can now mine such 
precious stuff in Africa Russia Montana and Canada.  

What generated the heat build up?  perhaps just fission decays, 
or .....     Ta DAAAAAaaaa  being extra rich in PD,Pt Ir Ni Ti, 
this planets core absorbed the densest levels of deuterium.  This 
went "cold fusion" and the effect was too much trapped heat 
which finally accumulated just too much pressure and blew the 
planet into  sharpnel, we see today as the asteroids.

I don't know what the mechanism of cold fusion is, and if I 
did I would likely try it out.
