For people...for a change CLINTON-GORE '92: National Talking Points Thursday, October 1, 1992 Bush said Read My Lips, then signed the second biggest tax increase in American history. Arkansas has the second lowest tax burden in the country. Bush promised us 30 million new jobs and came up 29 million short. Arkansas now leads the nation in job growth. Bush now presides over 3 million more unemployed. Clinton has moved 17,000 people from welfare to work. Bush wants to give a $108,000 tax break to millionaires. Clinton wants to give a break to the middle class. Bush has presided over the worst economy since WWII. Clinton's Arkansas was ranked #3 in overall economic health by U.S. News & World Report. Bush's approval ratings are the worst of any president running for reelection in history. Clinton was voted the nation's most effective Governor by his peers in 1991. Bush had made the middle class pay for his giveways to the privileged few. Clinton will make everyone pay their fair share. Bush is about false promises. Clinton is about real progress. Bush is abour fear and smear and four more years of more of the same. Clinton is about hope and change. Bush says we can do worse. Clinton says we can do better. BE CREATIVE, MAKE NEWS: Yesterday in Wisconsin, Bush was met by people in monkey costumes bearing signs which read, "We're Curious, George. Where are the jobs?" and "Bush, why monkey around with the debates?" These "Curious Georges" plan to appear at future Bush- Quayle events as "Hear no evil" (Secret deals with Saddam and the Ayatollah?), "see no evil" (Can't you see we're in a recession?) and "speak no evil" (Read my lips'- no new taxes). Kansas will hold a Perot Open House at the state's headquarters, inviting Perot volunteers to call in or drop by and pick up literature on the Clinton economic plan Putting People First. SCHEDULE: Clinton in Milwaukee to deliver speech on democracy, then to the Universiy of Wisconsin, Madison, with Senator Gore to participate in a nationally simulcasted young people's forum to emphasize the importance of registering to vote.
