ITALIAN AMERICAN LEADERSHIP COUNCIL: Press Release - 10/3/92 For Immediate Release: October 3, 1992 Governor Bill Clinton Announces: Italian American Leadership Council For Clinton/Gore; Rejects Trickle Down Economics Washington, D.C. -- Governor Bill Clinton announced the formation of the Italian American Leadership Council for Clinton/Gore today in Washington, D.C. "I'm pleased today to join with respected Italian American community, business, labor, professional and political leaders as they announce their support for our campaign for change," said Clinton. "The formation of the Leadership Council and the significant support it represents is yet another indication of the widespread desire for new economic leadership." The Honorary Co-Chairs of the Council are New York Governor Mario Cuomo and New Jersey Governor Jim Florio. Other Co-Chairs include Arthur J. Gajarsa, President of the National Italian American Foundation, Representative Nancy Pelosi (D,CA), Joseph Paolino, Director of the Rhode Island Department of Economic Development, and Representative Frank J. Guarini (D,NJ). "Nothing is more important to Italian Americans than their families, and in the past twelve years, our families have paid the price for the failed economic policies of the current administration," said Pelosi. The Council members are advising the campaign on issues important to Italian Americans, including job creation, health care, and economic growth. Members will also campaign on behalf of the ticket to build grass roots support and raise funds.
