Cabinet Members and other senior-level Administration officials will join members of Congress in health care reform town hall meetings, public forums, and various other events in all regions of the country. In total, the Administration will participate in health care reform events in twenty-eight states during the two week recess. For instance, Secretary HHS Donna Shalala and Veteran's Affairs Secretary Jesse Brown will each attend more than 6 health care reform events a piece. And Small Business Administrator Erskine Bowles will spend 10 days traveling around the country talking about the merits of the President's approach for guaranteed private insurance. At each event, Administration officials will stress the five fundamental elements of the Presidents approach to health care reform: o Guaranteed Private Insurance o Choice o Outlawing Unfair Insurance Practices o Protection of Medicare o Health Benefits Guaranteed at Work Cabinet activity during the Congressional recess represents the continuation of the Administration's effort to carry on a substantive health care reform dialogue with the American people.
