THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary _________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release August 10, 1993 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES CASSANDRA PULLEY ROBINSON DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR AT THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Clinton today announced his intention to nominate small business entrepreneur Cassandra Pulley Robinson as Deputy Administrator at the Small Business Administration. "As someone who has started a business herself, Cassandra Robinson understands the challenges new business people face. I am confident she will do an excellent job assisting Erskine Bowles at the head of SBA as we work to better opportunities for small and growing businesses," the President said. Robinson is President of Business Strategies International, Inc., a Washington, D.C. consulting firm she established that specializes in strategic marketing and business development. Robinson opened her own business after serving as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at American International Group from 1987 - 91. In that position, Robinson opened, staffed and managed the Washington office of the AIG, a financial services company. From 1987 - 89, Robinson served as Vice President of Special Finances for American International Underwriters. Robinson served at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation from 1981 - 87, as a financial services manager and later managing director. Robinson was employed at Mellon Bank of Pennsylvania from 1976 - 81, working her way up from credit analyst to banking officer to assistant vice president of corporate banking. Robinson earned a BA from Kean University in 1974 and a Masters in Management from Northwestern University Graduate School of Management in 1976. SBA was established in 1953 to help small businesses get started, stay in business and grow. SBA has a portfolio of commercial loans and loan guarantees worth nearly $25 billion, making the agency the largest single backer of small businesses in the nation. -30-30-30-
