THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary ________________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release August 2, 1994 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES DOLORES KOHL AS A MEMBER OF THE COMMISSION ON PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS The President today announced his intent to appoint Dolores Kohl as a Member of the Commission on Presidential Scholars. Dolores Kohl, from Illinois, is President and Chairman of the Board of the Dolores Kohl Education Foundation. An international private operating foundation, the corporation has directed the Kohl Children's Museum, the Kohl International Teaching Awards and the Kohl Teacher Center. Besides leading the Foundation and the Children's Museum programs, Ms. Kohl is a Trustee of Ravinia Festival and serves on its Women's Board, as well as on the Boards of the East Village Youth Program and the Foundation for Christian Rescuers. Ms. Kohl received her B.A. from Brandeis University in 1955. The Commission on Presidential Scholars was established on April 16, 1964, to recognize and honor our Nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. The Commission members are appointed by the President and serve at his pleasure. Annually, up to 141 students are chosen from among outstanding graduating seniors to become Presidential Scholars, the Nation's highest honor for high school students. -30-30-30-
