JOHNSON AS A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE WHITE HOUSE The President today announced his intention to appoint Janice M. Johnson as a member of the Committee for the Preservation of the White House. Janice M. Johnson, of the District of Columbia, is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Symphony Orchestra and Stratford Hall Board. She has also served on the Boards of the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Planned Parenthood, the South Coast Repertory, the Pacific Symphony Association, the Board of the Art Institute of Southern California and was a founding member of Opera Pacific. In 1990, Ms. Johnson was the YWCA's "Woman of the Year for Arts." The Committee for the Preservation of the White House reports to the President and advises the Director of the National Park Service with respect to the preservation and interpretation of the museum character of the principal corridor on the ground floor of the White House and the principal public rooms on the first floor. -30-30-30-
