THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary ________________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release March 22, 1994 LARRY WILSON NAMED CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER OF THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE The President today announced his intent to nominate Larry Wilson to be Chief Financial Officer of the Corporation for National and Community Service. "Larry Wilson is an innovative and dynamic financial manager," the President said. "His leadership at USDA proves that he will be a strong addition to the National Service team. I look forward to working with him and the AmeriCorps participants on getting things done in communities throughout America this year." Mr. Wilson is currently the director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Finance and Management, where he has served since 1988. In that role, he has managed a work force of over 1700 employees and set USDA policy for finance, management and productivity improvement, federal assistance operations, and occupational safety and health programs. He is also a faculty member at the USDA's Graduate School, and has been active as a career role model and mentor for students through North Carolina Central University's Youth Motivational Program. A North Carolina native, Mr. Wilson holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from North Carolina Central University, an MBA from St. John's University in Jamaica, New York, and an Ed. D in administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He has received numerous awards for his public service, including USDA's Distinguished Service Award in 1984 and the Presidential Rank Award in 1988.
