THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary ________________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release September 30, 1994 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES CHARLES HUMMEL TO MUSEUM SERVICES BOARD President Clinton today announced his intention to nominate Charles Hummel as a member of the National Museum Services Board. Mr. Hummel of Delaware recently retired as deputy director of the Museum and Library Department at Winterthur in Delaware. He has worked as a consultant to numerous museums, serves on the board of directors for the Early American Industries Association and is active in the National Institute for Conservation of Cultural Property. The National Museum Services Board is responsible for making policy for the Institute of Museum Services, an independent agency established to increase and improve museum services. In addition, the board encourages and assists museums in their educational role and eases the financial burden borne by museums throughout the country. -30-30-30-
