THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary ________________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release September 30, 1994 PRESIDENT NAMES JAY EHLE TO SAINT LAWRENCE SEAWAY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION President Clinton today announced his intention to nominate Jay C. Ehle of Ohio to serve as a Member of the Board of the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation. Mr. Ehle retired as President of Cleveland Builder's Supply in 1989 after a lengthy career. He is former Chairman and CEO of Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority, and now serves as Special Consultant to its Board. In addition, Mr. Ehle serves on a number of other boards, including the Great Lakes Historical Society, the Executive Board of the Great Lakes Museum, the United States Coast Guard Foundation, and the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Ehle was born on March 25, 1917, in Rocky River, Ohio. He received his undergraduate degree in economics from Kenyon College in 1938, and later studied engineering at Fenn College. Mr. Ehle and his wife Janet reside in Rocky River and have three children. The Advisory Board acts as the board of directors for the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, a government corporation under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Board directs the operations of the corporation and provides insight on the effects of Seaway operations. -30-30-30-
