THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary ________________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release October 24, 1994 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES TWO MEMBERS TO ARKANSAS-OKLAHOMA ARKANSAS RIVER COMPACT COMMISSION President Clinton has announced his intention to appoint Eamon Mahony Jr. as the Federal Commissioner and Fred D. Helms as the Alternate Federal Commissioner to the Arkansas River Compact Commission. Mahony is the president of the Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corp. He serves on the Board of Directors of ALLTEL Corp., the City National Bank of Fort Smith, the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce and the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves as a gubernatorial appointment to the Arkansas-Oklahoma Arkansas River Compact Commission. Helms is a district vice president of the Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. He is the chairman of the board of directors of the Muskogee City/County Port Authority and a member of the board of directors of the Greater Muskogee Development Corp. The Arkansas-Oklahoma Arkansas River Compact Commission promotes interstate comity between the states of Arkansas and Oklahoma toward the total development and management of the water resources of the Arkansas River Basin.
