THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary _____________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release April 19, 1995 PRESIDENT CLINTON DECLARES EMERGENCY IN OKLAHOMA President Clinton today declared an emergency exists in the city of Oklahoma City in the State of Oklahoma as a result of the bombing of a Federal courthouse there this morning. The President's action authorizes the use of all Federal resources necessary to meet urgent human needs and protect public health and safety. The assistance can range from the use of Federal personnel and equipment to provisions for medical and other emergency supplies. President Clinton directed James Lee Witt, Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate the immediate federal emergency response effort. Director Witt is naming Dell Greer of FEMA's regional office in Denton, Texas as the Federal Coordinating Officer for on-going response and coordination activities.
