THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary ________________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release March 24, 1995 PRESIDENT NAMES JIMMIE LOU FISHER AS A PUBLIC MEMBER OF THE RURAL TELEPHONE BANK BOARD The President today announced his intention to appoint Jimmie Lou Fisher of Arkansas, as a Public Member of the Rural Telephone Bank Board. Ms. Fisher is currently serving her sixth term as Arkansas State Treasurer. She is the Secretary of the State Board of Finance, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System, the Board of Trustees of the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System, the Board of Trustees of the Arkansas State Highway Employees Retirement System, and the Arkansas Development Finance Authority Board. Ms. Fisher attended Arkansas State University and is a graduate of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Rural Telephone Bank Board was established in 1971 and is the principal source of financing for rural telephone utilities. To date, the Rural Telephone Bank has made $3 billion in loans to 613 telephone companies to help build rural America's telecommunications infrastructure. -30-30-30-
