--- USA MARKET SUMMARY & NEWS (TWOCENTS or tosense) -[Your Nickel]------------
 Santa Rally continued as the market rallied up 27 and continued to +31 through
 midday and holding above +28 until the last hour when the market would drift
 back to the +23 level, rallying back to close up 28.26 to DJIA 3861.69 on 
 light holiday volume of 212 million shares. Transports up 6.28 on Delta Air
 strengh to 1440.82, utilities up .59 to 181.78.  OTC 746.20 up 4.01, bonds
 rally up 28/32 as the yield curve continues to flatten with the 2 year, 5 year,
 10 year and 30 year bonds all approximately at 7 3/4% yields.  Another FED
 increase might push the short term rates above the long term for the first
 time in 3 years.  Oscillator yields a big move signal with upside biase, but
 note we are technically overbought.  Santa Rally may continue toward a major
 triple top in the market setting the stage for a January cliff instead of
 the normal January effect, caution....

 The Conference Board said Consumer Confidence rose to 102.2 from 101
 Fed Funds at 5 3/4%.  Exisiting Housing sales fell 2.6% to an annually 
 adjusted 3.81M unit rate, but 1994 will close out with a 10% overall gain
 on 4M units which is the 2nd highest sales year ever.  Redbook reports
 retail sales were up 3.3% over last month, up 10% over the same period a
 year ago, but Christmas sales are being considered disappointing as jewelry
 and electronics did well, Visa/Mastercard did well, but Telecheck and the
 apparel stores show sales are below expectations due to heavy price 
 discounting and a warmer than expected climate in most areas.  Study shows
 airbag drivers rely on technology and are more wreckless in driving than
 non-airbag car owners.  

 ITT sold its commercial credit operations to a US branch of Deutch Bank and
 sold its Carribean banking operations to NorWest Bank to raise proceeds for
 its Caesars' World acquisition.  Perry's Drug of Michigan up 2 1/8 to 10 3/4 
 on a takeover bid by Rite-Aide at $11 per share or $132M, RiteAide -1/4 to 23.
 BEVerly Enterprises makes a $148M or $16.50 per share bid to takeover Pharmacy
 Managemtn (PMSV) 15 1/2 -1 1/2.  Plains Spirit receives a takeover bid, up
 6 1/2. Contel Cellular higher as GTE moves to acquire the remaining 10%
 interest, stock 24 15/16 up 11/16.  Pet Inc. 19 7/8 off 3/4 in a takeunder
 bid by Hartz.  Styles on Video 3 off 1 3/4 on a Soundview downgrade.
 United Healthcare 46 up 5/8, Perspective Biosystems 4 1/2 -2 1/2 as it
 restates earnings lower.  Delta Air upgraded by Soloman Bros. Circuit City
 up 1/2 to 22 1/2 on a DeanWitter upgrade.  Dayton Hudson off sharply -4 as
 it reports holiday sales up only 1-2%.  Maybon Securities cuts the ratings
 on PRFT, NOBE, JC Penney, and the Limited based on early Xmas sales returns.
 NOBE 40 1/4 -3 3/4, KMart 12 7/8 -3/8, WMT 21 1/4 -5/8.  UBS 2 1/4 up 1/4,
 RJR Nabisco 5 3/4 unch, GM 41 7/8 up 3/4, Citicorp 40 1/8 -1 3/8, Sprint
 26 7/8 -1/8, GE 51 1/4 +1 1/2, Acclaim Entertainment 14 1/4 -1/16, Epitope
 23 3/8 off 1 1/2 as Dan Dorfman says buyers of this stock may be Epi-Dopes.
 Greyhoud 2 -1/8.  Community Group 21 up 2 1/2, CMGI higher on positive
 Barrons' article.  Peso problems continue, decline vs. $ causes Mexican
 stocks on US market to continue to fall to new multi-year lows, TMX 37 3/4
 off 2 3/4 new 6 year low, Grupo Televisa 29 7/8 -2 3/4, other Latin American
 stocks selling off YPF SA 20 3/4 -7/8 and many emerging growth funds based
 on Mexico and Latin America growth have dropped in value significantly in
 the past week.  MCI 18 1/4 up 1/8, Royal Oak 3 1/4 up 1/16, Nabors 6 1/4 off
 1/8.  HHI Home Holdings 9 1/4 up 1 as it may be taken private.

 up 1 3/4 @ 30 1/2 on positive Barron's analyst article.  Colonia Data 14 3/4
 up 1 1/2, IVAX 18 1/8 up 1/4, Viacom 40 up 1/4, INTC 63 3/8 up 7/16, AMAT
 42 1/4 up 1 3/4.  CSCO 35 7/8 up 5/8, Interdigital 7 3/8 up 1/2.  AMD higher
 on a MER upgrade.  Microtouch Systems 43 1/4 up 3 1/2 as it introduces a new
 low cost touch monitor for public kiosks.  ADC Telecomm 48 3/4 up 4 7/8 as it
 gets a big supply contract to Ameritech.  Tri Star purchases Rim on new 
 serialized virtual reality program on the internet.
